This document covers the Nesktop mobile apps (Android now, iOS later). The apps are full mobile browsers designed to provide the Nesktop experience. The Nesktop canvas/new-tab experience is loaded from https://www.nesktop.com.
1. Relationship to the Nesktop web service
The mobile apps connect to the Nesktop service for login, sync, and personalized layouts. Your account, content, and settings are managed by the Nesktop service. By using the mobile apps, you are also subject to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy.
2. How the apps work
The apps provide a full mobile browsing experience. When you open a new tab, the Nesktop canvas is shown, letting you access your customized internet desktop and saved layouts. Other navigation behaves like a standard mobile browser.
3. Data we handle in mobile apps
The mobile apps use the same account system and data practices described in the Privacy Policy. In addition, the apps:
- Transmit data over HTTPS to the Nesktop service.
- May process standard device and network data (such as IP address, diagnostics, or crash logs) to operate and secure the service.
- Store session tokens locally to keep you signed in.
- Store Parental Control Mode settings locally (allowed domains and lock state) and may sync related preferences.
- Do not sell personal data.
4. Device permissions
The Android app currently requests:
- INTERNET
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Optional biometric or device credential prompts may be used to unlock Parental Control Mode or app locks. The Android app does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, phone, or advertising ID permissions.
5. Parental Control Mode
Parental Control Mode is a safety feature for guardians to limit browsing to approved domains, enabled by the Nesktop platform and the mobile app’s browsing interface. The apps are not directed to children, and the Play Console target audience should be 13+. Guardians should supervise use and configure approved domains carefully.
6. Third-party SDKs
The app relies on the Android system WebView/Chromium rendering engine and Nesktop APIs. It does not include ads SDKs. If this changes, we will update this document.
