Paste any link straight onto your NESKTOP canvas
A new keyboard trick: copy any URL, press Ctrl+V on your canvas, and click to drop it — no extension, no menus.
What's new — paste any link straight onto the canvas
Until now, adding a bookmark to NESKTOP meant using the add menu, the browser extension, or drag-and-drop. Paste-to-canvas adds a faster path: copy any URL from anywhere on your computer, press Ctrl+V while your canvas is focused, and drop it exactly where you want it. No extension required, no menus to search through — the link lands on your desktop like it belongs there.
How to use it — step by step
The flow is short. First, copy a URL from your address bar or any page. Second, switch to your NESKTOP canvas and press Ctrl+V. A small favicon will follow your cursor, showing you exactly where the bookmark will land. Third, click to place it. The bookmark is grid-snapped into position and saved automatically — there is nothing else to confirm. If you change your mind, press Esc or right-click to cancel before placing. And if your canvas is locked, the unlock popup appears first; once you unlock, the paste flow continues from where you left off.
Why it feels great
Paste-to-canvas works without the browser extension, because it lives in the web app itself. It also matches how people actually copy links — Ctrl+V is one of the most automatic gestures on a computer, so adding a bookmark stops feeling like a task and starts feeling natural. The result is the same familiar flow as drag-and-drop, just faster to reach from a keyboard.
What's next
Mobile canvas paste support is planned for a future update, so you will eventually be able to use the same shortcut on phones and tablets. For now, paste-to-canvas is available on the desktop canvas in the web app.
